This morning I received the very sad news of Judith Miller’s passing away. We had been missing her presence for a long time already. A serious illness had kept her away from our Congresses in the past few years, and from our moments of meeting, and it eventually led to her death in the night of the 6th to the 7th of December. Her demise has rendered her absence irreversible, a true loss. Judith Miller was a presence inhabited by a decided desire for the psychoanalysis of Lacan and its dissemination, she made possible the construction of our analytical world: the Freudian Field and the institutions that are associated to it, training Institutes, the Schools of The World Association of Psychoanalysis. The EuroFederation of Psychoanalysis also arose out of the desire of building an analytical Lacanian community in Europe, which exists today and is alive thanks to her. Today, as representative of the EFP, I wish to express my gratitude to her for this.
The Executive Committee of the EFP would like to express all of its support and solidarity to Jacques-Alain Miller, to Eve and Luc, to her grand-children, colleagues and everyone who have experienced Judith’s vitality.
